Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative*
I'm a resident and a homeowner living in South Boulder neighborhood and would like to share my concerns
regarding the proposed expansion of the Cross Gold Mine operations.
Water from the Cross Mine flows through Coon Track Creek into groundwater and tributaries before entering
Barker Reservoir,a significant source of drinking water for the South Boulder.
South Boulder is a very kid friendly community with lots of schools, kindergartens and daycares in the area, any
regressions in the quality of water will directly affect thousands of children potentially exposing them to
dangerous amounts of toxic materials.
The December 2024 water quality violation for copper(when 3.4 mg1I of copper was released compared to the
allowed 0.2 mg/I)combined with the 2021 Cease and Desist Order might indicate that the current water
treatments systems at the mining facility may not be sufficient to stay in compliance with water quality
regulations.
Please consider requiring an applicant to demonstrate the ability to sustain compliance with water quality
standards at current activity levels before permitting a 20-fold expansion as well as the ability of the upgraded
water treatment system to effectively treat water from a greatly expanded operation of over 200 acres.
Thank you for your consideration.
