Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative*
I'd like to express grave concern that the current application to re-open and expand the Caribou Mine fails to
offer strategies to monitor and assess public safety during active mining.Any pollution of the Barker Reservoir
water source could have a catastrophic impact on our public health and community safety. Please consider
requiring this application to provide a more detailed strategy to ensure that our water quality is protected.
Furthermore, this application provides little to no detail about where the product from the mine will be processed
or stored, nor the impact of transporting it. I'm concerned about the traffic impact for operations of this size in a
town of this size.Any use of the existing concrete being poured back into the landscape also could produce
negative consequences. Perhaps most importantly, this application does not address fire mitigation or the
protection of property and the surrounding environment from wildfire, flood,or other significant risks. Please do
not approve this application without further assurances for public health and safety.Thank you for your
consideration.
Permitting Action Comment/Objection is Regarding
New Permit Change to Existing Permit
Permit Number* (?)
Enter a valid permit number
M1977410
I
