Comment/Objection Narrative*
To Whom It May Concern,
I have co-owned a piece of family property along coon track creek for decades and have increasingly become
concerned about the water quality. Our family was not notified in 2021 when the Grand Island Resources were
violating their discharge permit for MONTHS,even though we spend time on a regular basis in the creek,
playing in the creek with my grandchildren, letting our dogs play in the creek and drink.
Our family feels very unsafe and unsure about the prospect of mining resuming with this history of pollution
coming downstream.
The current application has some concerns that other have mentioned. My biggest concerns would be that the
application does not ensure that the water coming off that site for the next 50 years would be clean, no matter
what. Period, end of story. Not only is that creek our water, and the water of the wildlife that depend on it-it
flows into Barker and down into Boulder.
Boulder just got the Sundance Film Festival. Boulder is a major city now, not a sleep college town of decades
past.We cannot trust this company,or any mining company to be honest,to ensure that accidents or unforseen
incidents won't occur.
I saw a document that the current operator of the water treatment plant doesn't even have the proper
certification. And yet expanion and commencement of operations is being considered?
This is unacceptable.
Please vote NO on allowing any mining to occur at the Cross or Caribou Mine.
Permitting Action Comment/Objection is Regarding
• New Permit Change to Existing Permit
Permit Number* (?)
Enter a valid permit number
M1977410
County*
Colorado County where the proposed operation is located
BOULDER
Enter one county only
Site Name
cross mine
Perm ittee/Operator Name
GIR
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Are there supporting photos, maps, or documents you wish to upload?
Yes - No
By submitting this form electronically you agree to receive any/all follow up correspondence from the Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety at the email address you have provided.
