Comment/Objection Narrative* <br /> I object to this Permit being approved because I feel that the owners of the cross gold mine,Grand Island <br /> resources(GIR),and its workers have shown that they do not care how this operation directly affects the <br /> environment or the community of Nederland. I feel that any expansion or continuation of this company operating <br /> this mine would negatively affect the future of Nederland as a whole. <br /> Environmental concerns begin with the fact that only within a couple years of operating,they polluted the <br /> watershed nearby the mine with toxic chemicals that came from the mines runoff. I feel that they were only <br /> upset that they got caught,and this shows in the unorthodox way of GIR trying to sue the town of Nederland for <br /> defamation, instead of admission of wrongdoing and trying to change their ways of operation that wouldn't be <br /> harmful to the environment or water sources. <br /> If they were to expand this mine to almost 200 acres I believe their negligence to environmental concerns, <br /> disregard to the community of Nederland,and their only goal being profit of their private company would cause <br /> serious detriment to the land,air,water,wildlife,and people surrounding Nederland. <br /> I lived in Nederland about five years, I have met these miners personally and I have even met Alfred,the owner <br /> of the company.
