Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative*
I fully support DRMS's approval of this application and want to personally thank both the mine workers and
DRMS staff for their hard work and commitment. As a Colorado-born native and Boulder County resident for
over 40 years, I've fallen in love with this area and have seen firsthand how Grand Island Resources(GIR)has
made a real difference—not just at the mine site, but throughout the surrounding community.
Their year-round maintenance of Caribou Road, from Highway 72 up to the Caribou Townsite, has been
essential in keeping this heavily used area accessible and safe, especially during the winter months when
locals, Denver-area visitors, and tourists venture up to enjoy snow sports and other seasonal activities.
Without GIR's efforts,we'd see more stranded vehicles and far more environmental damage from recreational
users creating illegal trails and roads through both private property and National Forest land.Their collective
stewardship has helped protect this special place for all of us—not only for recreational enjoyment and access
to public lands, but also by responsibly contributing to our country's need for precious metals sourced from
America's mineral lands, while providing good jobs for Coloradans through GIR and DRMS.
Let's not forget:this mine—and many others like it—are a major reason why the Nederland and Boulder County
area has the character and history it does today.
