Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative*
I am in strong opposition to the re-opening of the Gold Cross Mine. The operation of this mine has historically
been the cause of major water and land pollution. The proposed expansion by GIR from 9.99 to 205.7 acres
would have devastating environmental impacts on our area's land and water. What sort of regulatory measures
will be put in place to make sure that Barker Reservoir and the creeks that lead to it are not poisoned as
before? How often will pollution measurements be taken and who will they be reported to?Who will enforce
standards and prosecute violations? What will the consequences of violations be,and how will this company
remediate any damage that they do?How quickly will they do the remediation? How will the waste rock be
handled? What EXACT chemicals will be used in their processes? How large will the mill be,and what impact
will it have?Have there been any environmental impact studies? The chemicals and heavy metals released in
mining processes killed so many of our Western States rivers, many of them are still badly polluted—we don't
need more destruction. These are some of the many questions I and MANY other residents of this area have.
These chemicals and heavy metals are serious neurotoxins and have damaging impacts on every system in our
bodies. The health of our community, especially our children, pets and wildlife should not be sacrificed for profit.
Please deny the permit for the Gold Cross Mine.Sincerely,Teal Chimblo Fyrberg
Permitting Action Comment/Objection is Regarding
9 New Permit Change to Existing Permit
