Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative*
As a downstream neighbor of the mine I oppose the expansion of acreage and the change of permit type.
Common sense suggests a 2000%increase in permit acreage allows a 2000%increase in activity and impacts
across all impact types. So,a 2000%increase in the potential scale and disturbance of mining operations;a
2000%increase in the intensity of heavy traffic through a small town and narrow canyon;a 2000%increase in
the size of tailings;a 2000%increase in the the volume of toxic byproducts;and a 2000%increase in the
effluence of toxic byproducts into the creek that flows directly through the mine area, then through the center of
a town, then into a municipal water supply serving hundreds of thousands of downstream users.
Meanwhile, the change in permit type seems to take such impacts for granted and to greenlight them.
Can we expect a 2000%increase in caution at the site?A 2000%increase in associated infrastructure to
support a much larger industrial operation?A 2000%increase in protections at the nearby wilderness area?A
2000%increase in cleanup activities when the toxic impacts inevitably find their way downstream?
This expansion permit should be denied.Thank you for your attention.
Permitting Action Comment/Objection is Regarding
New Permit • Change to Existing Permit
