Comment/Objection Narrative*
We have lived for 50 years with our family on Middle Boulder Creek. We also own a rental home on the creek.
Michael is a retired firefighter from the Sugarloaf Fire Department with twenty years of service.
We are very concerned about the reopening and expansion of the Cross Mine above Nederland. We all have s
hallow wells close to the creek and thus the quality of our drinking water closely matches that of the creek itself.
With Cross's history of clean water violations and intended expansion we seriously doubt that any claims of re
medying previous violations have been and will continue to be valid. Attempting to continuously monitor their di
scharges will be difficult, expensive, and very likely unsuccessful. These operations are known to ignore the la
w,charge ahead, deny violations, and just make promises about the future while doing nothing.
This activity will surely have a grave impact not only on people exposed to the chemicals and heavy metals but
will also harm the fish and wildlife who depend on drinking untreated water.
I urge you to work towards denying the DMO(Cross gold mine application, Permit M1977410)permit and preve
nt this horrible operation from restarting. Resolving the inevitable problem after it has started will be extremely
difficult if not impossible.
Permitting Action Comment/Objection is Regarding
• New Permit Change to Existing Permit
Permit Number* (?)
Enter a valid permit number
M1977410
County*
Colorado County where the proposed operation is located
Boulder
Enter one county only
Site Name
Cross Mine
Perm ittee/Operator Name
Cross Mine
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Are there supporting photos, maps, or documents you wish to upload?
Yes • No
By submitting this form electronically you agree to receive any/all follow up correspondence from the Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety at the email address you have provided.
