Colowyo Coal Company L.P. <br /> <br />SL-24 Phase I Bond Release Application Page 5 <br /> <br /> <br />III. Summary of Reclamation and Management <br /> <br />A. General Description <br /> <br />As shown on Map 1, 145.9 acres are requested for Phase I bond release are within the West Pit, <br />north and east of the Collom Pit, and northeast of the Gossard Loadout facility. These areas <br />were backfilled and graded in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2024. The bond release areas <br />are comprised of five areas as described below. <br /> <br />Phase I Bond Release Area 1 <br /> <br />Area 1 is comprised of 0.1 acres and is a drill pad that was reclaimed in 2016. This drill pad was <br />a potential monitoring well location that was drilled prior to commencement of mining <br />operations in the Collom Pit. The drill hole was dry; therefore, it was backfilled and the area <br />reclaimed since it was it was not used as a groundwater monitoring location. Reclamation <br />activities included filling the drill hole was cutting and replacing the topsoil on the area disturbed <br />by the drilling operations. The area was also seeded in accordance with the approved <br />reclamation plan. Please see Map 1 for the location of Area 1. <br /> <br />Phase I Bond Release Area 2 <br /> <br />Area 2 is comprised of 4.8 acres and is a reclaimed water line. Reclamation activities included <br />backfilling and grading the trench used to construct the water line. Topsoil replacement occurred <br />and the area was seeding in accordance with Colowyo’s approved reclamation plan. Please see <br />Map 1 for the location of Area 2. <br /> <br />Phase I Bond Release Area 3 <br /> <br />Area 3 is comprised twelve small areas which total to of 3.7 acres. There areas were fire lines <br />cut in to control a wildland fire that occurred east of the Collom Pit. The fire lines consisted of <br />brushing only and backfilling and grading did not occurred. Reclamation of the areas included <br />reseeding in accordance with the approved reclamation plan. Please see Map 1 for the location <br />of Area 3. <br /> <br />Phase I Bond Release Area 4 <br /> <br />Area 4 is comprised of two areas that is bisected by Moffat County Road 17. The parcel to the <br />southwest of Moffat County Road 17 is comprised of 10.4 acres and the parcel to the northwest <br />is comprise of 17.7 acres. Both areas are a reclaimed water line. Reclamation activities included <br />backfilling and grading the trench used to construct the water line. Topsoil replacement occurred <br />and the area was seeding in accordance with Colowyo’s approved reclamation plan. Please see <br />Map 1 for the location of Area 4. <br /> <br />
