Riverside Aggregates, LLC
Mayhew Pit
File No. M-2024-054
EXHIBIT D —MINING PLAN
The Mayhew Pit will be a regular 112 Operation in Bent County.
The main entrance to the site will be from Bent County Road JJ at the northwest corner of the
site the coordinates being:
38° 05' 59.00" N
102° 48' 53"00 W
(a) The mining will be done with front end loaders and excavators.
(b) Earthmoving will all be done with scrapers and front-end loaders. All equipment will be
portable.
(c) No groundwater is expected to be encountered during excavation and mining; therefore, no
impact to the hydrologic balance is anticipated.
(d) Mining will occur in 20-acre phases.
(e) While excavating, a highwall will be created. The wall will be approximately 10' high at a
1:1 slope and potentially deeper to extract the material. The highwall will be approximately
1000' in length along the north side boundary of the pit. Deeper cuts shall be backfilled to
permit depths within 30 days of excavation.
The target gravel source is located beneath limited topsoil of 0-6 inches and overburden of
an additional 1-3 feet.Aggregate material is anticipated to be an additional 10 feet in depth.
Topsoil and overburden will be saved for reclamation of the mine site.
The life of the proposed operation is difficult to quantify due to the changing economic
conditions in the construction industry and aggregate quality. At this rate, the life of themine
would be approximately 10-15 years depending on local economic conditions.
Mining will proceed in a northern direction. Extracted material will be moved to the processing
area that is anticipated to be in the central portion of the pit.Aggregate will be processed
using a portable crusher and screen. Mining will occur in 20-acre phases. Reclamation
will occur concurrently to mining and as one 20-acre phase is completed, a second phase
will open.
Water for dust suppression will be hauled to mine site if necessary.
There will be no storage of fuel or lubricants onsite. Fuel will be hauled onsite as needed by
vendor trucks.
This is a privately owned site and does not require the State Historic Preservation Office
requirements for a cultural or historic study. If the operator encounters any structure of note,
the State Historic Preservation Office will be notified.
