EXHIBIT H -WILDLIFE ASSESSMENT
This information provided in this Exhibit is intended to satisfy the requirements outlined in Section
6.4.8 of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board Construction Material Rules and
Regulations:
(a) A description of the significant wildlife resources on the affected land.
A review of the habitats listed on the ECMC GIS website did not identify any high priority
habitats.
(b) Seasonal Use of the Area
Mule deer may use the Site as part of their winter range as depicted by the 2016 High
Priority Habitat maps although the winter range no longer overlaps the Site with the currently
effective 2024 map(see attached for current map).
(c) The presence and estimated population of threatened or endangered species from
either federal or state lists
The Site was screened for the presence of critical habitat for threatened or endangered
species utilizing the US Fish and Wildlife Service's IPaC website and the Colorado ECMS
GIS website. The Site does not contain any critical habitat for the listed species. See
attached report.
(d) A description of the general effect during and after the proposed operation on the
existing wildlife in the area, including but not limited to temporary and permanent loss
of food and habitat, interference with migratory routes, and the general effect on the
wildlife from increased human activity, including noise.
The mining and processing of the sand will produce noise and air emissions that will cause a
temporary disturbance to wildlife. It is expected that wildlife will continue to use the riparian
corridor during mining and the Site itself when not it operation.
After reclamation, the planting of perennial grasses and shrubs in the disturbed area outside
of the reservoir will create improved cover, foraging, roosting and nesting areas for wildlife.
The addition of water storage will create the opportunity for additional wildlife including
reptiles, amphibians, shorebirds and waterfowl.
The Site is outside of any mapped migratory routes.
70 Ranch Section 25—Proppant Mine—MLRB 112 Permit Application
Exhibit G-1
