Comment/Objection Narrative*
This formal objection is submitted regarding FRICO's mining permit application(M2024057)and the severe
regulatory failures that have allowed FRICO to operate illegally, damage infrastructure, and endanger public
health.
Significant Issues to Address Before Permit Approval:
Deliberate Contamination of Lake Christina: FRICO knowingly routed industrial sludge into Lake Christina. This
was intentional,not accidental.
False Land Control Claims: FRICO falsely claims control over the land required for their operations. The 422-
acre land deal is still unsettled.
Illegal Operations Since 2021: FRICO has been dredging without a permit since 2021,admitting to illegal
operations.
Unregulated Sand Stockpiling: FRICO is stockpiling 1.4 million tons of sand annually without any oversight or
environmental protections.
Considering FRICO's ongoing operations and their blatant disregard for environmental, health, and safety
standards,as well as county, state, and federal regulations, approving this permit will only exacerbate the
already critical issues that remain unaddressed. Immediate intervention is crucial to prevent further harm and
ensure strict compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Last night, the"Authority"and FRICO struck a stunning deal: FRICO will clean up the very disaster they caused
at Lake Christina—but only if the"Authority"agrees to stay silent on their mining application. This situation is
akin to an arsonist setting fire to your house, then coercing you into not calling the fire department, promising to
extinguish the flames themselves—on the condition that they can continue setting fires to other properties. This
scenario underscores the absurdity and danger of allowing the perpetrator to dictate the terms of remediation
while perpetuating their harmful actions.
Please deny FRICO's permit until all of the following items are addressed:
A full environmental impact study and independent review are conducted.
Legally binding agreements for road and bridge repair are in place.
The 422-acre land dispute is resolved.
Accountability for regulatory failures is established.
Strict stockpile height and location limits are enforced.
Fines and penalties for operating without a mining permit are imposed.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. It is anticipated that appropriate action will be taken to protect the
health, safety, and well-being of Beebe Draw Farms residents.
Permitting Action Comment/Objection is Regarding
• New Permit Change to Existing Permit
Permit Number* (?)
Enter a valid permit number
M2024057
County*
Colorado County where the proposed operation is located
Weld
Enter one county only
