RECEIVED
March 3rd.2025 tt+ 0 6 2025
Colorado Division of Reclamation,Mining and Safety Colorado Division of Reclamation,
1313 Sherman Street,Room 215 Mining and Safety
Denver.CO 80203
Subject:Concerns Regarding Proposed Dredging Operation and Sand Plant by FRICO
Dear Sir or Madam.
My husband and I are writing to express our strong concerns regarding the proposed dredging operation
and sand plant installation by the Farmers Reservoir and Irrigation Company(FRICO)directly behind our
home.We are directly impacted by this operation since we live on Stoneleieh Rd South and currently
overlook FRICO's operations. We are very worried about the potential environmental, health, and quality
of life impacts this project will have on our home and health.Just in the few months since FRICO's
acauisition of the land behind us.we have dealt with constant noise and ground vibrations from the sand
trucks that frequently run behind us on;County Road 41'/2.I utilize that road to walk our two dogs and
have almost been run over on three occasions by these trucks driving at a high rate of speed down this
road without regard to residents like me who use it for recreation The resulting dust from these trucks
lingers in the air and will blow towards our home, and there isn't a break in operations-even on
weekends.I have asthma and need to alter my schedule to work in the yard based on the amount of dust in
the air from the trucks.which greatly impacts my health and Quality of life.
I am a beekeeper and have a contract to sell honey at a local store in La Salle,CO.My beehives face
directly east towards Milton reservoir and current operations by FRICO.Honeybees in particular do not
tolerate ground vibration whether it be from frackine or the weight of the sand trucks driving by. I have
noticed a significant drop in population numbers and honey production since FRICO's operations began,
and I worry about their long-term health and longevity
The proposed sand planes operation schedule of 24 hours a day, seven days a week raises significant
concerns about noise pollution, light pollution, and increased traffic hazards. We are especially worried
about the detrimental impact to local wildlife. We have noticed that bald eagles who utilize Milton
Reservoir for nesting and hunting are now perching on our home to avoid the constant dredging activities.
I have personally experienced the disregard for safety from the truck drivers,so I can imagine that there is
equal disregard to wildlife who calls that area their home. The light nolhrtion impacts us since our house
faces FRICO's operations, and I'm sure interrupts migrating birds. We moved out here to be away from
light and noise pollution and now it is our daily annoyance and a negative impact to our lives.
Additionally,we are very concerned about groundwater quality as these mining operations continue so
close to many homes in the community.Currently,is there any testing of toxins being dredged from
Milton Reservoir? What will the lone-term impact be to our health and the health of the local wildlife
from these exposed toxins over time?Who will report groundwater quality and concerns to U29
We very much appreciate your attention to this matter and want to strongly encourage you to take our
concerns seriously.
Thank you.
Jeremy Thompson and Kristanne Korsaaard
4 ill
7(1.7/,./11/1: .
