Please be advised that on March 3, 2025, Huerfano County, whose address and telephone number are 1038
Russell Ave, Walsenburg, CO 81089; [phone], filed an application for a/an Amendment (AM- 1) to
M2014028, Peak View Pit, which is located approximately 0 miles of Huerfano County, Section 8,
Township 29 S, Range 68W, 06th Principle Meridian, in Huerfano County.

The Peak View Pit is located approximately 3.5 miles north of La Veta, Colorado just north of Highway 160
on County Road 520. This is an amendment for the Peak View Pit, a 112c operation for the removal of sand
and gravel for county road maintenance and repair. This amendment proposes to increase the 40 acre
boundary to 60 acres to both include the out-of-bounds disturbance cited in violation no. MV-2024-008, and
to account for new minable acres. The site is surrounded by rangeland and the post-mining land use is
rangeland.

A decision date has been set for June 1, 2025.Written comments or objections to the application may be
submitted to and additional information obtained from Amber M. Gibson at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, 1313 Sherman St. Room 215 Denver, CO 80203, by telephone at [phone].

Huerfano County is required to publish a public notice in a newspaper of general circulation in the locality of
the mining operation once per week for four consecutive weeks. If you wish to make comments on or
objections to the mine plan and/or the reclamation plan, they must be submitted within twenty (20) days of
the date of the last newspaper public notice to be considered in the application review process by the
Division. You should contact the applicant for the newspaper publication date. If we do not receive your
comments or any objection by the end of the public comment period, the Division will assume you have no
objection or comment to the proposed activity.
