2.05.3
sediment ponds. Ponds B and C are designed to contain a one year sediment
load which is less than the more typical three year sediment design load. Pond J
is designed to contain a two year sediment load. Therefore, the sediment from
the ponds may have to be removed more frequently. Sediment will be removed
from ponds B, C, J, K and F and the gob pile sediment pond no later than when
the ponds are 75% full of sediment. Markers will be installed in Pond F clearly
indicating the required sediment cleanout level and maximum water level that
could occur while still allowing ample storage for the design event.
(ii)(D) Sediment ponds B, C, J, K, F and the gob pile sediment pond will be
removed after the site has been reclaimed and the vegetation on the
reclaimed site is adequate to control erosion. Pond removal must be
authorized by the Division and the untreated drainage from the disturbed
area ceases to contribute additional suspended solids above natural
conditions.
None of the sediment ponds meet the size requirements of this section,
therefore this section is not applicable.
(b) The sediment ponds are considered temporary ponds and are designed to
meet the requirements of Rules 4.05.6 and 4.05.9.
(c) Not applicable.
(d) Collection ditches and diversion ditches have been designed to comply with
the requirements of rules 4.05.3 and 4.05.4.
Small Area Exemptions (SAE)
The locations of the small area exemptions are presented on Maps 20, 21-1,
21-3, 35, 36, 36a, 36b, 39, 40 and 42. The Applicant will monitor the flow
from the small area exemptions to assure compliance with 4.05.2(3). The
Applicant will use its best efforts to obtain samples. The samples will be
analyzed for pH, conductivity and total settleable solids. Samples will be in
compliance if they contain settleable solid levels of 0.5 ml/I or less and the pH
is greater than 6.5 and less than 9.0.
MR -168 2.05-41- 11/14
