December 18, 2024 C-1981-035/King Coal Mine LJW

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 4
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2

condition as seen in Photo Five and appears able to function as designed. Near the entrance to the facility, the East
and West Sediment Ponds were observed. The West Pond contained standing water from snow and ice melt,
however was far below the discharge level and no evidence of recent discharge was noted. The banks appeared to
be stable and were well vegetated. The West Sediment Pond can be seen in Photo Six. Photo Seven shows the
East Sediment Pond, which contained no standing water and no evidence of discharge. The banks also appeared to
be stable and in good condition.

At the King II Facility, the main sediment pond was observed to be in good condition. The cleanout efforts remain
unchanged, and will likely continue during the dry months of the summer. The pond contained standing water at
the time of the inspection as seen in Photo Eight but was well below the discharge elevation. No evidence of
recent discharge was observed. Both the East and West Clear Water Ditches were observed, and both were found
to be free from obstruction and appeared to be able to function as designed.

The fuel and hazardous materials storage area at the King II facility can be seen in Photo Nine. All items were
stored within proper secondary containment measures or on spill pallets, and the area is neat and organized.
PHOTOGRAPHS
