M-1977-410 <br />Technical Revision 10 <br />April 26, 2022 <br />2 <br /> <br />Section 1: Introduction and Site Description <br />Technical Revision 10 (TR10) is presented by Grand Island Resources, LLC (GIR) in response to the <br />following: <br />1. Service of Notice of Violation/Cease and Desist Order (Number IO-211130-1) from Colorado <br />Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) dated November 30, 2021 <br />2. Cease and Desist Orde by DRMS and the Mined Land Reclamation Board Permit No. M-1977- <br />410, (Table 1) and the Corrective Action item (1.) dated February 18, 2022, in relation to <br />Violation No. MV-2021-017. <br />3. Responses to comments to DRMS Preliminary Adequacy Letter dated March 25, 2022 and <br />Reclamation Board, November 2021 and February 2022, respectively. <br />4. to Technical Revision No. 10 initial submittal by GIR, <br />5. Cross Gold Mine, Permit No. M-1977-410, Technical Revision No. 10 (TR-10), Adequacy Review <br />No. 2 by DRMS dated April 22, 2022 <br />6. Topics discussed and conclusions reached during a follow up teleconference calls between <br />DRMS and GIR held on April 12 and April 22, 2022 <br />This document describes the Water Treatment Pilot Test Equipment installed on site, its operations <br />effectiveness and measures implemented by GIR to address water discharge limits compliance. The <br />document also describes actions approved by DRMS and Implemented by GIR of underground features <br />and infrastructure designed to alleviate peak discharge loading during mine operations. <br />A revised Ground Water Monitoring Plan (GWMP) and a Surface Water Monitoring Plan (SMP) are also <br />presented as required by the NOV/C&D Order and the Preliminary Adequacy letter by DRMS. <br />The Cross-Caribou mine site is located approximately 4 miles northwest of Nederland, Colorado adjacent <br />to Roosevelt National Forest, at an elevation of ~9,700 ft above mean sea level (MSL). The general location <br />of the property is in Section 9, Township 1 South, Range 73 West of the 6th Principal Meridian, County of <br />Boulder, State of Colorado (Map 1). The current property is an existing hard rock mining operation owned <br />by GIR and at present, no active mining is being conducted. The mine permit M-1977-410 was last revised <br />through Amendment No. 2 (AM-2) and approved in February 2022. The AM2 increased the permit area <br />to the current 9.99 acres and provided an additional financial warranty for reclamation. <br />The site is bisected by Coon Track Creek, a tributary of Beaver creek which joins with Middle Boulder Creek <br />near its discharge at the Barker Meadows Reservoir. Water effluent from the mines is currently managed <br />via the Treatment System described herein. Treated water discharges into Coon Track Creek (Figure 1 and <br />Map 2) under CDPHE Water Quality Control Division (WQCD) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination <br />System NPDES permit CO-0032751. <br />
