Cross Gold Mine
December 2024 E-8

elevation seed mix (Table E-4) for areas above 9,000 feet up to the timberline. This DRMS-recommended
reclamation seed mix will be applied to the prepared areas.
Seeding will occur in the fall to take advantage of winter moisture. Seeding will not take place if the
ground is frozen. The seedbed will be prepared, settled, and firm, yet sufficiently rough to ensure seeds
can lodge and receive adequate soil coverage. Seed will be applied using a drill seeding method.
Following seeding, the area will be hydromulched, and the mulch will be crimped or tacked in place to
control wind and water erosion. Although these mountain soils are generally fertile, soil amendments
may be applied as necessary based on conditions (Section 1.10). Since this is private land, grazing will
not be permitted.
Table E-4. Subalpine Vegetation Areas (9000’ to tree line)
The below rates are for drilled seeding. Bag to be attached outside of primary seed bag. This mix will be used across all areas
requiring reclamation. Specific areas will be supplemented by upland tree and shrubs and wetland species (Table E-5 and
Table E-6). Quantities for supplemental species will depend on the final reclamation slope configurations and the best
chance of success for each species. Suggested species have been successful reclamation in similar environments (O’Shea-
Stone and Ash 2008). The Idaho Tunnel slope will be seeded with the species in Table 3 and will be supplemented with the
tree and shrub species listed in Table 4. Trees and shrubs will be planted in the spring if possible.
