Cross Gold Mine
December 2024 D-5

The waste rock landform location can be seen on Map C-2. The Waste Rock Landform is located at the
upper or western entrance to the Caribou Mine: the Idaho Tunnel Portal. The Waste Rock Landform will
be used for all waste rock generated on site. It has a working stacked capacity of approximately 30,000
cubic yards. Waste rock may be crushed and screened at the waste rock landform. This produces a
fine material and a coarse rip-rap sized material that meets most of the mines uses for construction
work when needed. Water spray is used for dust control. Waste rock is primarily composed of gneiss
and quartz monzonite. Waste rock may be trucked off-site periodically for beneficial use by third parties
as a construction aggregate.
The waste rock will be made available to Boulder County Road and Bridge Department and the
U.S. Forest Service for use on their roads and used on site. The waste rock is inert host rock
lacking the metal mineralogy that would lead to acid or heavy metal generation.
PAF waste rock is addressed in Exhibit U.

This is an underground mining operation, producing ore from various near vertical mineralized veins.
Therefore, deposit thickness is not applicable.

Major operational components of the mining operation are listed below. There are other site
components shown on Exhibit C maps that are not operational components of mine. These include the
Historic Cabin, Munitions Shed 1 and 2, and the NOAA Shed.
• New Roadway between Cross and Caribou Mines
• Ventilation Shaft and Escapeway Roadway Accessing Caribou 300 Level
• Cross Mine Adit
• Caribou Management Office
• Idaho Tunnel Portal
• Caribou Water Treatment Shed
• Caribou 300 Level Portal Flow Shed 1
• Waste Rock Storage Area
• Potable Water Pipe
• Sanitary Water Pipe
• Pond 1, 2, 3A, 3B, 3C
• Septic Tank and Leach Field
• Caribou Parking Area
• Cross Shop and Adit Access
• Cross Parking Area
• Cross Ore Building
• Ore Storage Area
• Offices and Dry Room
• Fuel and Oil Shed
Exhibit C maps depict the major components of the existing mining operation. The sizes of the
disturbed areas are shown in Table D-1. Most of the affected areas will be undisturbed by mining
