2.0 Introduction
2.1 Purpose of the Management Plan
The purpose of this management plan is to ensure that mining activities at The West Side Placer project are con-
ducted in a manner that protects and preserves the habitat and population of the Greater Sage-Grouse,particu-
larly during sensitive times such as the lekking season. As a project focused on the extraction of precious metals
and critical minerals, it is essential that our operations align with environmental stewardship practices to mini-
mize disruption to wildlife and promote sustainable land use. This plan outlines specific measures to mitigate im-
pacts on Sage-Grouse populations and habitat, including pre-mowing of surface vegetation, timing restrictions,
and habitat restoration techniques.
2.2 Description of The West Side Placer Project
The West Side Placer project is located in Moffat County, Colorado, and focuses on the extraction of precious
metals and critical minerals. The project spans a combination of open pit placer mining and excavation, designed
to extract mineral-rich sand and gravel deposits. Operations involve pit excavation, material processing, and
reclamation phases, with a commitment to environmental management. Due to the project's proximity to known
Sage-Grouse habitat, particular attention is being paid to habitat conservation and species protection throughout
the life of the mine.
2.3 Legal and Regulatory Framework
The West Side Placer project complies with all relevant state and federal regulations pertaining to wildlife con-
servation, land use, and mining operations. This includes adhering to the Colorado Department of Natural
Resources (DNR) regulations for Greater Sage-Grouse protection, in conjunction with the Bureau of Land Man-
agement (BLM) policies under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Additionally, this management
plan follows guidelines from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife
(CPW), ensuring compliance with the Colorado Greater Sage-Grouse Conservation Plan, which mandates the
protection of core areas and implementation of best practices for habitat management.
7
HARDROCK/METAL MINING REGULAR(112)APPLICATION Au Pt Industries LLC I PO Box 1424-Edwards,Colorado 81632 1970 306 1 784
