The coal stockpile dam is an existing structure and is
located slightly west of the truck dump station. The
sediment volume and 10 -year, 24-hour inflow
calculations are presented in Exhibit 8 Protection of the
Hydrologic Balance. The sediment volume is 0.16
acre-feet and the 10 -year, 24-hour inflow is 0.19 acre-
feet. The total volume required is 0.16 acre-feet + 0.19
acre-feet = 0.35 acre-feet.
The runoff/sedimentation storage areas will be de -
watered with a pump. The de -watering will be after a
runoff detention time of 24 hours, and will be done in
such a manner as to minimize disturbance to the
surrounding areas.
The ponds will be removed following usage with the
approval of the DRMS. They will be adequately
backfilled and riprapped. Currently plans are to
remove the dam, backfill the pond, and restore natural
drainage.
(C) See Exhibit 8
(D) There has been no past underground mining in the
area of either pond.
(E) No response required.
(i) Design Plans
The maps, plans and cross sections for the loadout and
stockpile ponds were prepared by or under the direction of and
certified by Matthew Sakurada, P.E., a qualified professional
engineer with engineering experience in the design and
construction of sedimentation ponds, excess spoil and
underground development waste facilities.
RN -07 2.05-19 02/18
