NS Fti P
October 4,2024
DRMS
Nikie Gagnon
1313 Sherman St,
Denver,CO 80203
RE: DRMS Permit M-2000-144,North La Poudre Gravel Mine Technical Revision Two(TR2)
Dear Ms.Gagnon:
This letter discusses the proposed Technical Revision#2(TR2)for the North La Poudre Gravel Mine. The
mine is located on the southeast corner of Colorado Boulevard and State Highway 392 in Weld County,
Colorado. More specifically, the mine is within the north half of Section 19,Township 6 North, Range 67
West. Refer to Figure 1 included with this submittal.
The following summarizes the current conditions at the mine:
- Mining ceased at the North La Poudre Mine in 2023 and the mine is now actively being reclaimed.
- Figure 2 shows existing site conditions, bonding areas, and parcel owners.
- Figure 3 shows the revised reclamation plan.
- The West area, amended into the North La Poudre Mine in 2017 has been mined out and is
backfilled to grade and reclaimed. Figure 2 shows the areas that require overseeding. A photo
has been attached showing the West area on April 4th,2024.
- The Middle area, which historically contained two mining cells is actively being backfilled to limit
exposed groundwater. Figure 2 shows the areas that have been backfilled and the areas that still
require fill.
- The East area was never mined or disturbed and a picture from April 4th, 2024 of this area is
attached to this TR.
Proposed Technical Revisions to the final reclamation plan:
- The pond located in the East area is proposed to be clay lined. A preliminary design memo and
typical section are shown in the Figures and attached to this TR. An example set of day liner
technical specifications is attached. Water will not be held for more than 72 hours per Division of
Water Resources(DWR)rules and substitute water supply plans will be submitted to the DWR.
- The mining cells located in the Middle area will be backfilled to rangeland similar to the West and
East areas of the mine.
- As part of this Technical Revision the bond calculation has been updated to show the actual
liabilities. The current bond is approximately one million dollars and the updated bond calculation
is approximately five-hundred thousand dollars. Figure 2 shows the areas related to the bond
calculation table.
8308 COLORADO BLVD• STE 200• FIRESTONE, COLORADO 80504• PHONE: 303.833.1 41 6
