September 19, 2024 C-1982-056/Foidel Creek Mine BFB <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1 <br /> <br /> Page 4 of 13 <br /> <br />• The culvert in Ditch E-1 on the east end of Pond E is damaged, filled with sediment and is not identified on <br />Map 24 (photo 12). <br />• On the north side of the overland conveyor belt just west of the wash plant, there is a long 18” CMP leading <br />from a sump area to the Pond D discharge. This CMP is full of sediment and needs to be cleaned (photo 13). <br />• The sump east of the Pond D discharge point contained water and appeared to be in good condition. <br />• The silt fence located between the overland conveyor belt and the Pond D discharge point is in disrepair and <br />needs to be repaired (photo 14). <br />• The 3 culverts in Foidel Creek just north of Ponds B are almost completely clogged with river debris and need <br />to be cleaned (photo 15). <br />• The sump just across the tracks, south of Ponds B is completely full and needs to be cleaned. <br />• The French drain under the BOB pile has been installed and buried. <br />• The CRDA perimeter drain on the east and south side of the coal refuse pile is not shown on Map 24 in its <br />current configuration. Map 24 needs to be updated. The perimeter drain ditch was well vegetated and in good <br />condition. <br /> <br />PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES – Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br />Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br /> The coal waste pile had a few rows of stacked waste material (photo 16). The material was drying in <br />preparation to being spread out. Overall, the pile looked to be in good condition. It was sloped to the south and <br />directed water to either the underdrain or to Pond D. <br />The face of the waste pile has been topsoiled and is ready for seeding. <br /> <br />ROADS – Rule 4.03 <br />Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3), Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4), Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and <br />(6)/4.03.2(5) and (6), Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> The roads around the maintenance shops were being watered for dust control. <br /> <br />REVEGETATION – Rule 4.15 <br />Vegetative Cover; Timing: <br /> The thistles around Pond F have been treated. <br />The next lift on the face of the coal waste pile has been topsoiled. <br /> <br /> <br />DOCUMENTS RECEIVED: none <br />OTHER (SPECIFY) <br /> <br />ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE <br /> <br />No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending. <br />
