 r
4
EXHIBIT "E"
' RECLAMATION PLAN
' Currently, the applicant feels that mining and reclamation operations
will be complete during 1991-1992. At that time, the area should serve as a
' recreational site that could offer fishing, boating and a water fowl refuge.
Considering the proximity of the affected area to the Colorado River, it is
felt that this use would lend to enhancement of the surrounding environment.
The total mined area amounts to approximately 30.9 acres. The process
area contains 10.8 acres and will not be mined.
1 Side slopes of the pit area will be graded at a ratio of 3:1 (horizontal
vs vertical) or less. The floor of the pit will be left irregular and the
water depth varied to foster an acceptable aquatic habitat. All existing trash
' including brush, slash and all other refuse will be hauled away. However, any
debris that can be placed at the bottom of the pit to improve the aquatic habitat
will be retained.
I
Once the pit is exhausted and reclamation grading complete, the dewatering
will cease and the water table will be permitted to return to its natural elevation.
The depth of the lake is expected to be 35 - 40 feet.
' Native overburden will be spread on sloped areas as required to a depth of
6 to 12 inches until stork piled supplies are exhausted.
t The final slope fran the high water elevation to the desired ground level
shall be graded to a maximum of 3:1. All exposed reseedable areas above the high
water line will be reseeded as recommended by the staff of the Mined Land Reclama-
tion Board.
The seeded areas will be cultivated prior to planting and fertilized at a
' rate specified by the Soil Conservation Service, if required.
At this time the applicant plans to mine phases one thru four with the
remaining area to be used as a process area. The process area will not be mined.
' Seeding and revegetation efforts will begin within two years after each phase has
been mined out. Pit slopes will be graded as previously mentioned concurrently
with mining operations. It is anticipated that intrinsic soil and moisture
conditions will promote rapid growth at the time revegetation efforts are started.
In order to prevent soil erosion, all stock piles will be graded and contoured
to minimize potential damage from storm runoff. Natural drainage ways will also
be contoured to prevent soil erosion problems.
The revegetation of the affected land will be carried out under the recam-
' mendations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board.
1
I
' 6
