EXHIBIT I SOILS INFORMATION <br /> 1 . General <br /> A soil report was generated using the United States Department of Agriculture's NRCS Web <br /> Soil Survey (WSS)3 and is included in this exhibit as Appendix I-1 at the end of this exhibit. The <br /> WSS provides soil data and information produced by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. The <br /> majority of the site's soil consists of aquolls and aquents with a gravelly substratum in the <br /> eastern area, and the Ellicott-Ellicott sandy skeletal complex in the western area along the river <br /> (see Map C-1). The A-horizon of the soil profile was used as the basis for determining the <br /> topsoil stripping depth during mining operations. These primary soil types that exist at the site <br /> are described as follows. <br /> 2. Suitability for Reclamation Revegetation <br /> The two main soil types provide an average of two feet of suitable material for revegetation. The <br /> soil in the east (3-Aquolls and Aquents) is not considered prime farmland, but the soil in the <br /> west (10-Ellicott-Ellicott sandy-skeletal complex) is considered prime farmland if irrigated. As the <br /> majority of the site will be reclaimed to a pond, converting the land back to agriculture is not <br /> considered for reclamation. However, the soil should be suitable to be used for rangeland as <br /> portions of the site currently are rangeland. Revegetating disturbances as rangeland will also <br /> complement the reclaimed land use of open space. <br /> 3.
