Long Term Seam Adhesion <br /> 11 Years Immersion <br /> ASTM D 751 <br /> Lbs./In. <br /> Seam samples of 8130 XR-5®were dielectrically welded together and totally immersed in the liquids for 11 <br /> years.The samples were taken out, dried for 24 hours and visually observed for any signs of swelling, cracking, <br /> stiffening or degradation of the coating. The coating showed no appreciable degradation and no stiffening, <br /> swelling, cracking or peeling. <br /> The adhesion, or resistance to separation of the coating from the base cloth, was then measured by ASTM D <br /> 751. Results show 8130 XR-5 maintains seam strength over this long period (11 years). <br /> Control Crude Oil JP-4 Jet Fuel Diesel Fuel Kerosene Naphtha <br /> 8130 XR-5 20+ 18 33 25 40 33* <br /> Values in lbs./in. <br /> *The naphtha sample was sticky. <br /> We believe this information is the best currently available on the subject.We offer it as a suggestion in any appropriate <br /> experimentation you may care to undertake.
