• 1000LORADO <br /> -.d Division of Reclamation, <br /> ® Mining and Safety <br /> Department of Natural Resources <br /> June 7,2024 <br /> Fremont County Commissioners <br /> County Commissioner <br /> 615 Macon Avenue, Room B-5 <br /> Canon City, CO 81212 <br /> Re: Southfield Mine(Permit No. C-1981-014) <br /> Bond Release Application No. 5 (SL-5) <br /> Dear Fremont County Commissioners: <br /> This letter, as required by Rule 3.03.2(5)(a) of the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined <br /> Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining, is to inform you that the Division of Reclamation, <br /> Mining and Safety has issued a proposed decision to approve Bond Release Application No. 5 for <br /> the Southfield Mine. This decision will be published in the Canon City Daily Record as soon as <br /> possible. The first day following publication of the notice initiates a thirty(30) day public comment <br /> period. If, within thirty days, there are no requests for an adjudicatory hearing, the decision will <br /> become final. <br /> SL-05 is a Phase III Bond Release and termination of the Division's jurisdiction for the revoked <br /> Southfield Mine. This decision constitutes a full release of reclamation liability for the Southfield <br /> Mine. Pursuant to Rule 3.03.3(1), the Division is proposing to terminate its jurisdiction over this <br /> entire coal mining operation. <br /> As an interested party, you have the right to an adjudicatory hearing as outlined under Rule <br /> 3.03.2(6) of the Rules and Regulations. The request for an adjudicatory hearing must be written <br /> and state with specificity the reasons why the hearing is requested.
