GBEA 3
2. Please state the current bench configuration. What is the anticipated benching configuration moving forward?
Rule 6.3.3(f)
Using public domain LIDAR and the associated DEM,collected in 2020(2020 Northwest Block 1, map w2075n1175)
and published in 2022, contours were produced for the Wagner Pit. Multiple maps in the application document
show contours at 1 foot elevation changes. The current bench configuration is well defined in most of the maps.
We should note that the DEM used has 2 ft pixels with a 10 cm elevation accuracy. The data used is available at:
https://coloradohazardmapping.com/LidarDownload
There have been only minor changes to the pit since the LIDAR data was collected and published. Some
rock product was removed from the northeast corner (late fall 2023) and is delineated on the included
11x17 map.
There have been multiple options discussed with the owner/operator concerning how specific
formations (e.g.. High Knob) will be mined, to what extent, and the final configuration. Given that the
product demand will be driven by management of Twin Buttes Land Co property, and is not a commercial
operation, injects an uncertain into the planning process. The most likely scenario would be the
reduction in height of the High Knob and the utilization of the high clay content material just to the east
of the High Knob. This could take many decades to be at the elevation of the current bedrock bench to
the east (the elevation of Bench B). The difference in elevation is 62 feet from the top of the High Knob
to the middle of Bench B. It is envisioned that the product will be removed and the remaining slopes
contoured to taper into an elevation of roughly 6280 ft (west side of bench B). There is a high degree of
uncertainty.
See the following 11x17 maps.
Wagner Pit#M2023038, Owner& Operator:Twin Buttes Land Co LLC
Wednesday, May 29, 2024
