Wild Horse Reservoir Project West Test Quarry DRMS 111 Application <br /> 3.2.7 Water Usage <br /> 6.3.3(h)specify how much water will be used in conjunction with the operation, and the source of this water. <br /> Water usage for the test quarry operations may be up to 80,000 gal/day for material processing and dust control <br /> and will be stored in a temporary lined construction water pond. <br /> Construction water will be sourced from the existing air/vacuum valve on the Otero Pipeline (as previously used <br /> for the Wild Horse Project's geotechnical investigations) and hauled to temporary storage ponds. Water will be <br /> used for crushing and washing operations of the extracted material as well as dust control. Water may also be <br /> used to support excavation operations. <br /> Construction water usage will be measured or calculated using calibrated means on a daily basis.Water quality of <br /> runoff flowing off the active quarry site will be monitored visually. <br /> A Quarry Development Plan (QDP)will be developed prior to commencement of construction activities.The QDP <br /> will include quality control measures and monitoring processes for water, as well as specifics for noise levels and <br /> sound barriers and dust and weed control measures. <br /> 3.2.8 Groundwater and Stormwater <br /> 6.3.3(i) if groundwater will be encountered and/or surface water intercepted or disturbed, describe how mining <br /> will affect the quantity and quality of the surface or groundwater and the methods to be used to minimize <br /> disturbance to the surface and groundwater systems including proposed dewatering, sediment-containment or <br /> chemical treatment systems, storm water run-off controls, and groundwater points of compliance. <br /> Based on previous investigations (Reference Table 3-2)for the Wild Horse Reservoir Project, groundwater is not <br /> expected to be encountered during the West Test Quarry operations. In 2023, Tetra Tech installed and has been <br /> monitoring observation wells that are located over 1,000 feet away from the proposed site. The water table has <br /> been observed 60 to 80 feet below ground surface;given the test quarries are higher in elevation than the installed <br /> observation wells, the groundwater table is likely more than 80 feet below the ground surface. <br /> TETRA TECH May 2024 13 <br />
