To accommodate the large amount of slurry produced from the washed coal an additional Thickener Tank and pipeline
will be installed in 2018. The new Thickener Tank will be located on the West side of the wash plant facilities and east
of sediment pond D.The Tank will be 90 feet in diameter and approximately 14 feet tall. The Foundation supporting
the Thickener Tank will consist of a concrete pad supported by approximately four feet of devised compacted fill
that replaced the existed soil material. Limestone was placed on the northwest side of the thickener tank to a depth
of around 15 feet to relieve any hydrostatic pressures that may exist from the shallow water table. During this
addition pond D will be modified by reducing the east side to accommodate sufficient room for the new Thickener
tank and installation of a pre sump to help settle out any sediment that could flow from the washplant facilities. In
addition to the Thickener tank, a clarified water tank, a Deaeration tank, and a 40' x 50' out building enclosing the
flocculant system and thickener pumps will be installed surrounding the new Thickener tank. A new thickener
injection line consisting of double walled HDPE pipe with the outside pipe being 12 inches and the inside pipe
being 8 inches will be installed to assist in pumping the thickener underflow to designated thickener underflow
boreholes.
TRI 9-93 2.05-29 03/05/19
