CPW recommends that DRMS not approve the Surety Release Request. CPW also
recommends that DRMS do a site visit to evaluate the vegetation and reclamation progress.
DRMS was requested to do a site visit in 2022 but due to time constraints could not do so.
2024 is supposed to be the next scheduled site visit.
CPW has a few concerns in the current state of recovery of the affected area, two of which
are major. The first concern is the lack of grass growing in the disturbed area after seeding.
The second concern is the presence of noxious weeds, such as tamarisk which should have
been mitigated throughout the last several years, yet new growth remains unhindered.
If DRMS would be willing to do a site visit CPW staff would be made available to join them and
discuss the issues that create concern.
Logan Wilkins ll
lY
District Wildlife Manager
2500 South Main St.
Lamar, CO 81052
719-940-3585
Jeff Davis,Director,Colorado Parks and Wildlife I ( Y bo
Parks and Wildlife Commission:Dallas May,Chair•Richard Reading,Vice-Chair•Karen Bailey,Secretary•Jessica Beaulieu I.I 'r-T-' /•,
Mane Haskett•Jack Murphy•Gabnel Otero•Duke Phillips,IV•Gary T.Skiba•James Jay Tutchton•Eden Vardy '.\,, .,
\876
