The Applicant shall be
responsible for compliance with this SWSP, but the State Engineer's Office ("SEO") may also pursue the
landowner, for eventual compliance. This application is for a new plan and the required fee of $1,593 for
the SWSP has been submitted (receipt number 10033981).
SWSP Operation
This SWSP covers depletions caused by gravel mining operations at the Ewing Gravel Mine, which is
located in Section 30, Township 2 North, Range 66 West, 6th P.M. in Weld County (shown on attached
Figures 1 and 2) north of Fort Lupton and just north of the Platteville Ditch headgate. Mining will occur in
two terraces: the Piney Creek Alluvium which is the lower/younger terrace west of the ditch, and the
Broadway alluvium which is the upper/older terrace east of the ditch. Depletions during this approval
period include evaporative losses from exposed groundwater, water lost with mined product, water used
for the slurry wall construction, dust control, and dewatering. Replacement water will be supplied by the
City of Aurora using fully consumable water from their wastewater treatment plant.
Depletions
Evaporation
The Applicant proposes to replace evaporation from exposed groundwater at the site based upon
evaporation atlases in NOAA Technical Report NWS 33 and the SEO monthly distribution factors for sites
below 6,500 feet. Gross annual evaporation at the gravel pit location is estimated to be 44 inches per
year. Net evaporation is defined as gross evaporation less the consumptive use of water by vegetation
that naturally occurred at the site prior to construction of the pit. The historical consumptive use was
of cOl0
1313 herirrai SLreeL, iir3rni kit1, I]entier, C}b[]2U I'3i]3_Gb-3Sli r;arrr_ lurado_av Few
Jared S_ Palls, Gnvemar I Dan Gibbs, Executive Director I Jason ollnnann,State Enin rlDirector y 0
I
*1876`
