The following USDA Soil Conversation Service species seed mix, planting methods and time
of planting recommendations will be followed.Attached is the USDA Soil Conservation
Service document,Technical Guide Section IV-Standards and Specifications.Critical Area
Planting—(342)
Seed Mix-Species Variety PLS Rates per acre %Species in Mix PLS rate Species/ac
Drill B/cast
1)Galleta Grass Viva 3.0 32.8 3.0 6.0
2)Crested Wheatgrass Ephriam 1.5 16.4 1.5 3.0
3)Sand Dropseed - 0.05 0.55 0.05 0.1
4)Canby Bluegrass Canbar 0.45 4.9 0.45 0.9
5)Indian Ricegrass - 3.125 34.2 3.125 6.25
6)Fourwing Saltbush -- 1.0 10.9 1.0 2.0
Total: 9.125 lbs/ac 155.125 Lbs for 17 acres reclamation
After replacement of topsoil on areas scheduled for reclamation, seedbeds will be prepared using a
disc type plow or spring rake harrow. Seedbeds will be firm and clean tilled. The seeding
operation shall be by drill method. After seed application seedbeds will be mulched and crimped
stated below in(t)(iii), at a rate of 1000#/acre;weed control will be as necessary. Recommended
seedbed preparation date is late June with July 1 to 15 recommended for seeding. Dormant
seeding recommendations are from October 15 to April 15. Early October, just prior to the first
hard freeze is recommended as the most appropriate time for dormant seeding. Seeding of
stockpiled topsoil for stabilization will be broadcast and raked by hand using the same
recommended seed mix as above at. Any other areas requiring broadcast seed application will be
done at twice the recommended drill application rate.
(e) Plan or schedule indicating how and when reclamation will take place
(i) An estimate of the periods of time which will be required for the various stages or
phases of reclamation.
As stated above in Exhibit D-{a}Mining Plan—Description of Methods,a total of 18.45 acres is
contained within the proposed permit area of which approximately 17 acres will be ultimately
disturbed by mining activities. The undisturbed areas will consist of seeps/wetlands(protected)
some of the western site area where topsoil material will be stockpiled and some possible thin
strips located above or beyond the final site high-wall.
At this point in time, including the proposed 8.5 acre addition requested through this permit
application,it is estimated that the life of the mine at the site will be from 10 to 15 years. The
initial pit, stockpile and equipment staging areas are shown on the Mining Plan Map located in
Exhibit C and represent the current state of activities at the site by Hard Rock Redi-Mix,Inc.
Mining and crushing activities are currently conducted at the site under the current permit for the
Gray Pit#1,permit#M-2002-057.
(ii) A description of the size and location of each area to be reclaimed during each phase.
As already stated:A single site reclamation will occur after the completion of all mining
activities at the site. Approximately 17 acres will require reclamation.
