Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative
Please do not allow the CJK Milling Co under any circumstances to reopen the Leadville mill to process piles
which includes the use of cyanide. After many decades of remediation from the Environmental Protection
Agency and other entities, the water, air, and soil quality has mostly recovered. It would be disastrous to go
backwards and reintroduce toxins into our environment once again. Mining is not as necessary for the economy
of Leadville as in former times.Job opportunities are vast here, with a variety of schools(including Co College),
medical establishments, food sectors, business owners, county city government, recreational guides in many
forms,a ski resort, and so much more. The proposed CJK Milling project would clash with the current rhythms
of our small town. Neighborhoods would be disturbed greatly by many aspects of the milling operation.Quiet
homesteads and streets would be faced with increased pollution in several forms, noise, toxic dust, exhaust and
general high impacts of heavy machinery. As a resident of the east side, this milling operation would change the
current peace and great quality of life we worked hard to achieve here. The roads and trails we use daily to
walk dogs, bike or ski would be altered in negative ways.
Please, in no way shape or form,do not allow the CJK Milling Co to conduct any business in Lake County. Our
community thrives due in large part to the beauty, history, recreation and grandeur which draws lucky tourists
from all around the globe.
PLEASE do not permit the CJK Co to work here in the Leadville area, PLEASE!
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M1977999, M1999777UG or C1981201.
M1990057
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
Permit Type
