Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative
Please do not under any circumstances allow the CJK Milling Company to reopen the Leadville mill. This
operation would completely alter the current high quality of life in Leadville and throughout the east side mining
district. Finally, after many decades of remediation through the Environmental Protection Agency and other
entities, air, water and soil quality has mostly recovered in much of the aforementioned area(from over a
century of mining). Processing piles using cyanide undoubtedly would contribute to the degradation of the land
around us.Current quiet neighborhoods would become abuzz with heavy equipment transporting the ore to and
from the operating site, creating pollution in many forms: noise, dust, toxic particles, exhaust to mention a few.
Leadville has transformed from a booming mining town way back in the day,to a thriving tourist town which
draws lucky visitors from all around the globe. The local economy thrives due in part the beauty, history,
recreational activities and countless events throughout the seasons. Mining is no longer necessary for our
community to make ends meet. The job opportunities are vast, from educational, medical, food sector,to shop
owners, guides(of various forms)and so much more. This proposed mining operation would clash in many
unfortunate ways with our current quality of life and present rhythms. As a resident of the east side my life
would be altered in negative ways. The roads and trails we use daily for dog walks, biking,or skiing would be
degraded and disturbed. It would consist of a violation of the current peace we experience now, which I,and all
of the neighbors around could attest to.
Please, in no way shape or form,do not grant the permit to the CJK Milling Co to proceed with their business
here in Lake County. It would be disastrous, PLEASE!
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M1977999, M1999777UG or C1981201.
M1990057
I
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
I
Permit Type
