If the range vegetation is seriously deteriorated, seeding is needed.
• Suitable seeding mixtures can include crested wheatgrass, bluebunch
wheatgrass, and western wheatgrass. There may be some difficulty in
obtaining seed for some or all of these species. Successful seedings can be
expected only in years of above normal precipitation. Seeding late in fall
helps to insure that the content of moisture in the soil will be adequate
for the establishment of seedlings next spring. For successful seedings, a
seedbed should be prepared and the seeds drilled. The plants selected for
seeding should meet the seasonal requirements of livestock of wildlife, or
both.
Brush management Improves deteriorated areas of range that are producing
more woody shrubs than were present in the potential plant community.
Aa~agement practices suitable for use on this unit are proper grazing
• use and a planned grazing system. '
This mapping unit is in capability subclass IVe. 'It is in Clayey
Foothills range site.

•
-21-
