RN8 -18- 11/7/23
Mapping Unit – (X95F) (con’d.)
Erosion Hazard: Slight from wind, moderate from water
Other Features: Calcareous at 10 inches. Uses are restricted by slope, rock outcrops, and rock
fragments. Rock outcrops make up about 20 percent of the mapping unit.
Capability Unit: VIIe non-irrigated
Range Site: Loamy slopes

BOROLLS ROCK OUTCROP COMPLEX (104)
This complex is on north and west valley side slopes and ridges. The Borolls make up about 55 percent of
this complex and occupy lesser slopes. The rock outcrop part makes up about 35 percent of this complex
and occupies steeper slopes and ridgetops.
The Borolls are shallow to deep, medium to fine textured, well drained soils over interbedded
sandstone and shale at a depth of 10-6 inches. They may be cobble or stone filled.
The borolls portion has moderate to rapid permeability and the available water capacity ranges
from low to high. The effective rooting depth is from 10 to 60 inches or more. Erosion Hazard is slight to
moderate from wind and high from water.
This complex is subject to slips and shows some “cat” steps.
Capability Unit: VIIe non-irrigate, Boroll Part – BRUSHY LOAM
Estimated pH: 6.6 – 7.4
Conductivity (mmhos/cm): <2
Depth Useable Topsoil: Highly variable
Torriorthents Rock Outcrop Complex (101)
This steep complex is on escarpment faces and valley side slopes. Torriorthent soils make up 50 percent
of the unit, occupying small colluvial fans and toe-slopes. Rock Outcrops make up 40 percent of the unit
and are on vertical ledges, ridgetops and steeper side slopes.
Torriorthents are course and medium textured stony and cobbly well drained soils over sandstone and
shale at 10-40 inches. Rock Outcrop is predominantly sandstone in narrow bands with colluvial stones
and boulders at the base.
Capability Unit: VIIe non-irrigate,
Estimated pH: 7.4-8.4
Conductivity (mmhos/cm): <2
Depth Useable Topsoil: 4 to 30 inches
