The lowest factor of safety for permanent slopes is 1.38 at Final Reclamation. This is below the
CDRMS permanent slope minimum (1.5) for critical structures but above the non-critical
structure minimum (1.3). However, the FoS = 1.5 failure circle is nearly identical in size and
location to the 1.39 failure circle. The FOS = 1.5 failure circle is well within the bounds of the
operation and does not risk any offsite structure or the overall slope stability of the reclaimed pit.
Seismic conditions were also analyzed. The worst case FOS for seismic is 1.22. Similar to the
static condition, this FOS is below the CDRMS critical structure minimum (1.3) but above the
non-critical structure minimum (1.15). Failure circles for the seismic conditions were the same
as the static conditions.
GALENA data tables and analysis result figures are attached as Appendix GS-1.
Hard Rock Benches
(overall slope of 211:1V)
Final Reclamation
I with backfill
(slope 2H:1V)
1
Figure GS-1.
