Geotechnical Stability Exhibit
Engineering Evaluation of Highwall Design for the South Quarry of the Morrison Quarry

January 2024 | 5
The North Quarry is mostly reclaimed, with the exception of the 10.6 acre North Repository
Area, and currently holds water used for mining operations and raw water storage for the Town
of Morrison. The North Quarry was mined to an approximate bottom elevation of 6,220' above
mean sea level (MSL) utilizing highwalls and benches at a nominal 1H(Horizontal):1V(Vertical).
Reclamation was completed in 2016 for the Central Quarry, and the area is currently utilized for
stockpiling material, as well as storing, maintaining, and repairing mining equipment. The area
was mined to approximately El. 6,330’ utilizing highwalls and benches at a nominal 1H:1V, with
highwalls to the north and south.
The South Quarry is actively being mined between approximately El. 6,800’ and 6,500’ using
benches and highwalls. For purposes of this analysis, the anticipated final bottom of pit for the
South Quarry is expected to be El. 6,200’.
