EXHIBIT H - WILDLIFE INFORMATION
Western Equipment &Truck Mine # 1
Game and non-game resources in the vicinity of Western Equipment &Truck Mine
# 1 include the following: Pronghorn Antelope (Antilocapra americana, Mule Deer
(Odocoileus hemionus, Coyotes (Canis latrans} Red Foxes (Vulpes vulpes} Prairie
Dogs (Cynomys sp} Rabbits (Sylvilagus sp. Hawks (Accipitridae Family- various
species) and other birds of prey; Pheasants (Phasianus colchicus, Wild Turkeys
(Meleagris Gallopavo, Rattlesnakes (Crotalus sp) a variety of small mammals; a
variety of migratory and endemic songbirds and waterfowl.
There are no significant wildlife resources on the proposed project land.
The area is under seasonal agricultural use, with no prescribed benefit for wildlife.
The presence and estimated population of threatened or endangered species in the
area from either federal or state lists are not indexed or publicly available for the
proposed project locale. The 2015 Colorado State Wildlife Action Plan from Colorado
Parks and Wildlife identified only one species of concern, the Olive-backed Pocket
Mouse (Chaetodipus intermedius), for this general area. The species has a range
that extends from the border of Wyoming in Larimer and Weld Counties southward
through Huerfano County. This species lives in grasslands and the subject parcel
has already been converted to agricultural uses and is void of grassland areas that
would be suitable for the mouse's habitat.
The general effect on wildlife during and after the proposed operation, does not
include any temporary or permanent loss of food and habitat, as the area is already
converted to agricultural production. There is no foreseeable conflict with any
migratory routes, or an overall general effect from increased human activity.
However, during and after the proposed activity, there will be heavy machinery
utilized that will increase noise levels in the general vicinity of the project but this
will not be out of the ordinary, in comparison to the noise levels generated by
agricultural equipment (e.g., tractors, combines, etc) used throughout the
community.
