The
Applicant shall be responsible for compliance with this SWSP, but the State Engineer's Office (SEO)
may also pursue the landowner, for eventual compliance. The required fee of $257.00 for the
Gravel Pit SWSP renewal has been paid (receipt no. 10032630). This plan was most recently renewed
on March 24, 2023 through October 31, 2023.
SWSP Operations
This SWSP seeks to replace depletions resulting from the Valley's Edge Resource Gravel Mine (Figure
1, attached). The Valley's Edge Resource Gravel Mine is located near the City of Brighton in Section
20, Township 1 North, Range 66 West of the 6th P.M. The Applicant commenced mining of the site
in June 2017.
Depletions during this SWSP consist of evaporation from exposed groundwater, dust control, and
water retained in removed product. Lagged depletions that resulted from the past mining operation
include evaporation from exposed groundwater. Depletions for this site will be replaced using
effluent water leased from the City of Aurora.
According to the DRMS permit, the life expectancy of the Valley's Edge Resource Gravel Mine is less
than 20 years. The proposed reclamation of the site is an industrial development, which will require
a complete backfill of the site. Backfilling of completed mined areas began in August 2022.
In accordance with the letter dated April 30, 2010 (attached) from the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety ("DRMS"), all sand and gravel mining operators must comply with
the requirements of the Colorado Reclamation Act and the Mineral Rules and Regulations for the
o> Co10
1313 Sherman Street, Room 821, Denver, CO80203 P 303.866.3581 www.colorado.gov/water y`L% '0
Jared S.
