SENT OF p
United States Department of the Interior
QP qL D.S.DEP-MENT OF THE INF-R
BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT BUR1ADDFuNDF6ANA%ww
X Colorado River Valley Field Office
2300 River Frontage Road
CH 3 Silt, CO 81652
DECISION RECORD
For
DOI-BLM-CO-G020-2021-0014-EA
Material Storage Site for CDOT
DECISION.
After reviewing this environmental assessment, it is my decision to select the Proposed Action
including the project design features. This project approves the material storage site for the
Colorado Department of Transportation.
RATIONALE.
In considering this decision, I took into account local conditions, natural and cultural resources,
human life and safety, the 2015 Approved Resource Management Plan, regulations. I specifically
based my decision on the following rationale:
1. The need to establish a suitable location to store debris removed from Glenwood Canyon
during landslide events that close Interstate 70.
2. This proposed site would provide a nearby location to store material during rapid responses
to clear landslide debris and reopen the interstate to traffic as quickly as possible.
3. Reduce impacts to alternate routes that are not designed to handle the volume and size of
vehicle traffic that uses the interstate.
4. Help meet the demand for interstate commerce and reduce the impacts of rerouted interstate
traffic to local communities.
1
