Extension Tunnel above the Leadville Formation, resulting in off-site formation of dissolved zinc. Our
mining plan is to pull rock away from the Shaft area and through reclamation and diversion redirect
water away from the Shaft. These activities will reduce tributary flows to the underground workings of
the London Mine by more than 30% (by about 2GPM annual average) and substantially reduce waste
loading in the Tunnel.
Loading from the London Mine decreased by 90%when the lower well was turned on in 2019.This
indicates that redirecting water away from the upper mine areas and through the Paleozoic/Leadville
Formation is the key to maintaining clean water at the Site. The water coming from the upper mine areas
is principally derived from the area surrounding the American Mine Shaft. This plan will further improve
water quality in South Mosquito Creek and reduce intrusion of surface water to the workings.
