encounter groundwater and is developed by air-rotaiy methods will be abandoned by backfilling_
the hole with dry drill cuttings and installing a manufactured plug approximately 5 feet below the
surface. The top 5 feet will be filled with surrounding surficial materials.
5. Describe how portals, adits, shafts, ponds, excavations,or other disturbance will be reclaimed
(refer to Rule 3 and Rule 5 for specific reclamation performance standards). You may wish to
contact the Division for closure specifications.
Drill pads will be graded to their original contours, topsoil will be distributed, and the disturbance
area will be seeded. Mud pits will be used to manage and contain the circulating drilling mud.
The sump/mud pit will be excavated within the footprint of the drill pad, with the excavated spoils
contained within the drill pad footprint as well. The excavated spoils will be isolated and clearly
differentiated from the topsoil stockpile. Following completion of the drilling, the sump pits will
be backfilled using the excavated spoils and drill cuttings and returned to the original site grade.
Topsoil will be redistributed over the disturbance and the sites will be seeded.
6. Describe how roads will be reclaimed or returned to their pre-prospecting(or better)condition:
All drill pads and offroad access trails will be reclaimed. Ripping or scarification of compacted
soils will be performed if necessary. All disturbed roads and pads will be contoured to promote
positive drainage and blend in with the surrounding terrain. Disturbances related to off road
access or drilling operations will be seeded to promote native vegetation growth.
7. List the seed mixture to be used in the re-establishment of vegetation. See attached seed mixture
calculation to obtain PLS/acre. For assistance with formulating seed mixtures and rates, contact
the local NRCS if on private land,BLM/USFS if on public land or State Land Board if on state
land.
a.
