"TWINING
CONCRETE INSIGHT
Morrison Quarry Phase II Rock Petrography Page 1
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Mr. Will Brandenburg of HDR Engineering, Inc. (HDR), located in Denver, Colorado, requested
Twining Concrete Insight (TCI) to perform petrographic examination of two (2) rock samples
associated with the Morrison Quarry located in Morrison, Colorado. The purpose of the
examination is to characterize the mineralogy and lithology of the rock samples.
On 20 January 2023 TCI received two (2) rock samples from HDR. Table 1.0 summarizes the
submitted samples that were assigned TCI sample numbers 27YD 14000 and 27YD 14001.
Table 1.0 Summary of Sample Information
TCI Sample Number Client Sample ID As-Recevied Condition Dimensions (L x W x H)
140x110x45mm
27YD14000 Sample 1 Two rock fragments (5 '/z x 4 3/s x 1 3/4 in.)
130x80x65mm
(5 '/sx3 '/sx2Yin.)
27YD14001 Sample 3 One rock fragment 230 x 180 x 110 mm
(9 '/s x 7'/s x 4 3/s in.)
2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
The testing involved petrographic examinations following general procedures described in
ASTM C294 [1] and ASTM C295 [2] for identification of rock samples. The petrographic work
was performed by a petrographer and reviewed by a principal petrographer.
1 Standard Descriptive Nomenclature for Constituents of Concrete Aggregates.Annual Book of ASTM Standards,v.4.02.
ASTM C294-19.
2 Standard Guide for Petrographic Examination of Aggregates for Concrete.Annual Book of ASTM Standards,v.4.02.ASTM
C295-19.
Report No. 237923.d 20 February 2023
