RPM,Inc.
October 5, 2023
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety RECEIVED
Attn: Mr. Joel Renfro OCT 10 20?3
1001 E. 62nd Ave., Rm 215
Denver, CO 80216 Colorado Division of Declamation,
Mining and Safety
RE: Technical Revision—Seed Revision, Permit No. M2009-077, Dill Pit
Dear Mr. Renfro,
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to revise our Dill Pit reclamation seed mix. Attached to
this submittal is a check in the amount of$216.00, Technical Revision Application, and
explanatory attachments.
One of the attachments is the Ecological Site Descriptions (ESD)for the two soils units. It lists
the dominant plant species by category. We included five native grass species and one native
forb, purple prairie clover.
Please note we have kept most of the species from the original approved seed mix. However, we
deleted scarlet globemallow and Indian ricegrass. We reduced the seeding rates for purple prairie
clover and sand bluestem. We increased the seeding rate for sideoats grama. We intend to use
the same varieties as currently listed as available. (Different varieties of the same plant species
have differing characteristics which can result in improved establishment.) Given the relatively
small number of acres involved, we believe the surrounding native species will reinvade the site
over time. Therefore, the main goal is to ensure site stability and provide for the post mining land
use, rangeland. Given all the proposed species are native to the site, based on the ESD, we
believe the mix should do well in terms of site stabilization and not hinder the establishment of
the other listed ESD species. Please see the new Plant Species Table below.
The overall seeding rate is 9.25 pounds of pure live seed per acre, versus what you provide in the
bond calculation worksheet titled, "Vegetation Work", of 10.5, PLS, lbs./acre.
RPM.Inc.. 25049 E.Alder Dr.,Aurora,CO 80016 Phone:(303)854-7499 Email:hlhumphries2@comcast.net
