Welborn Sullivan Meck&Tooley&Leadville Sanitation 14
June 9,2023
concern is low level metals leaving the facility from employees washing their hands as
this wastewater would enter the District's sanitary sewer collection system and ultimately
end up at the District's WWTF influent."
14. The sanitary sewer was installed in 2012, and is operational. It is fed by two 500-gallon
stand-alone fresh water tanks, which feed the mill office lavatory, and "snack area"
faucet and sink. It is not connected to any mill process-related equipment or piping.
UMC was not able to find studies or any information (including searches on the effect of
other commercial/industrial instances such as automotive and truck repair shops to
water treatment plants) addressing this concern. UMC believes that washing hands in
the sink will have a de minimis impact at the WWTF. Any information that JVA can
share on this matter would be appreciated.
Please contact me at 303-947-3499 or by email nmichael(aD-union mill ing.com if you have any
questions or if I can be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Nick Michael
Member
cc: GKnippa, UMC Milling Company, LLC
SCraig, UMC
