Grand Ave, Ste 250 Montrose, CO 81401 Re: Proposed Decision Permit Renewal Application No. 8 (RN-8) New Horizon Mine (Permit No. C-1981-008) Dear Montrose County Commissioners: This letter is to inform you that the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety is proposing to approve a renewal application for a coal mining and reclamation permit. The application was submitted by Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation, LLC on November 22, 2022, for the New Horizon Mine. Any person with an interest which may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board within 30 days of the date following the first publication of this notice by the Division in the San Miguel Basin Forum. The surface mine is located approximately 1.7 miles Northwest of Nucla, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: All or portions of the following: Sec 6, T46N, R15W: NE 1/4 NE ¼; W ½ NW ¼ NE ¼; SE ¼; Sec 1, T46N, R16W: N ½ NE ¼ NE ¼; NW ¼ NE ¼; NW ¼ SE ¼ NE ¼; NE ¼ NW ¼; N ½ SE ¼ NW ¼ Sec 36, T47N, R16W: SE ¼ Copies of the renewal application are available for public review at the Montrose County Courthouse, 300 Main Street, Nucla, CO 81424. A Copy of the Division's “Proposed Decision and Findings of Compliance” is available at your County Clerk and Recorder’s office.
