Sample Packaging and Shipping <br /> The following outlines the packaging procedures that will be followed.As a first choice, Pinyon will hand-deliver <br /> the samples to Origins in Denver, Colorado. In the event samples cannot be submitted to Origins within three <br /> days of sample collection,the samples will be shipped,via FedEx,from Salida, Colorado directly to the Origins <br /> facility. The samples will be packaged as outlined below: <br /> • Check screw caps for tightness and, if not full, mark the sample volume level of liquid samples on the <br /> outside of the sample bottles with indelible ink <br /> • Wrap all glass sample containers in bubble wrap to prevent breakage <br /> • Seal all sample containers in heavy duty plastic zip-IockTM type bags. Write the sample numbers on the <br /> outside of the plastic bags with indelible ink. <br /> • Place samples in a sturdy cooler(s) within a larger plastic bag. Bubble wrap should be placed in the bottom <br /> of the cooler to reduce the potential for breakage during shipment <br /> • Ice used to cool samples will be double sealed in two zip lock plastic bags and placed on top and around <br /> samples to chill them to the correct temperature <br /> • Close up all samples and ice within the larger plastic bag and seal the plastic bag to prevent any leakage <br /> • Fill empty space in the cooler with bubble wrap to prevent movement and breakage during shipment <br /> • Enclose the appropriate chain of custody forms in a zip-lock plastic bag affixed to the underside of the <br /> cooler lid <br /> • Seal the drain plug of the cooler with sturdy tape to prevent melting ice from leaking out of the cooler <br /> • For coolers being shipped, each cooler will be securely taped with sturdy packing tape, and custody seals <br /> will be affixed to the front, right, and back of each cooler. <br /> Disposal Of Residual Materials <br /> Any residual soil material remaining after all sample containers are filled will be placed back onto the sampled <br /> stockpile. <br /> Documentation —Field Notes <br /> Field notes will be recorded in accordance with Pinyon SOP — GEN00 — Field Notes (Attachment 1). At a <br /> minimum,the following information will be recorded during the collection of each sample: <br /> • Sample location and description <br /> • Site or sampling area sketch showing sample location and measured distances <br /> • Sampler's name(s) <br /> • Date and time of sample collection <br /> • Designation of sample as composite or grab/discrete <br /> Mr. Lucas West Page 9 <br /> Environmental Protection Specialist <br />
