Field Methods and Procedures
The following section provides details regarding the equipment and methods that will be used during
implementation of the Plan. If any problems occur, which require or result in deviation from the methods
discussed, the field personnel will notify Pinyon's Project Manager, determine resolution options, and document
the details of the problem and resolution in the project field notes. Pinyon's Project Manager will inform DRMS
as soon as practical and will discuss additional actions, if necessary.
Field Equipment
The field equipment referenced below in Table 2 will be used for data collection, sampling, and decontamination
during stockpile sampling activities. The equipment will be inspected prior to each use. The Field Team Leader
is responsible for inspecting and replacing equipment as necessary. If the equipment is damaged or no longer
usable, it will be discarded as solid waste. Extra materials and equipment will be available in the field in the
event of any breakage or malfunction of the original equipment.
Table 2. Field observations for creosote staining,
will however, be used for stockpiles that contain particle sizes that will not fit in a 4-ounce wide mouth glass
sample jar. Creosote staining is assumed to be black,tar-like coatings on the surface of the gravel or boulders.
Decontamination Procedures
Decontamination of sampling equipment must be conducted consistently to ensure the quality of samples
collected. All equipment that comes into contact with potentially contaminated material will be
decontaminated. Disposable equipment intended for one-time use does not require decontamination and will
Mr. Lucas West Page 6
Environmental Protection Specialist
